Grade 10 Citizenship Awards

Instructions for the Branch Awards Representative

The 2008 Grade Ten Citizenship Award Nomination Package includes a Nomination Form, a sample nomination form filled in, and a sample script. The selection process is described below.

Each Citizenship Award recipient and guest(s) will be invited to attend the awards reception that will take place on Wednesday May 31, 2006, the details for which will be distributed closer to the date. We ask that each Branch select its Citizenship Award recipient and submit the name by May 2, 2008 and typed script to the District Office by May 9, 2008.

• Make the sample Nomination Form and blank Nomination Forms available to the staff.
• Solicit nominations of suitable Grade 10 students from the staff.
• Convene a meeting of the Selection Committee, consisting of the Branch President (or designate), the Awards Rep (if your Branch has one), and at least one other teacher. The selection committee may also include student(s) if desired.
  • From among the students for whom nomination forms were submitted to the committee, the committee will select ONE student to be the recipient of the Grade 10 Citizenship Award.
• Using the Sample Script provided, write a script about the student chosen for this award.
• Fax the Recipient Information form to the District Office (659-2421) by Friday, May 2, 2008 and submit the typed script, preferably by email to Colleen Canon or to Laurie Lafraniere, by Friday May 9, 2008.
