The Bishop Townshend Award
The Bishop Townshend Awards of Educator Excellence are presented annually at an awards dinner to honour the recipients; Please check Event Calendar for date and more details.
This award is jointly sponsored by OSSTF District 11, the Anglican Diocese of Huron and the Thames Valley District School Board.
The criteria for selection of the recipient of this award are derived from Bishop Townshend’s philosophy of education. He believed that students must receive education in intellectual, physical, spiritual and social realms if they are to live a more abundant life. The educator who helps the student develop in such a rounded fashion would also demonstrate excellence in the areas of physical, social, intellectual and spiritual development.
The nominees for this award are selected by selection panels within each school or bargaining unit because they exemplify those ideals.

The Bishop Townshend Information Package may be found under the forms & links tab.
The Working Copy (Resume of Nominee’s Special Contributions) can be handed out to individual staff members for their input. Once your committee has made a decision as to your nominee, then a final TYPED copy of the script (see sample scripts) must be submitted. Scripts may be e-mailed directly to the District Office, osstf11@execulink.com.
At this point, we are only concerned with the branches (or Bargaining Units) selecting a nominee and providing a script. If this is a new award for you, we would encourage you to seek assistance from the staff member from your school who was responsible for the Bishop Townshend Award last year. Further information will come your way in regards to invitations extended to guests of the nominees and principals.
