Retiree Checklist
- It is best to start preparing for retirement well in advance.
- The retiree checklist gives the prospective retiree in indication of what steps should be taken to prepare to retire, and whom to notify. You may wish to print a copy; place it in a file that you start to keep track of the paperwork required as you prepare to retire.
Sample Letter #1
- Sample Letter #1 is for all members anticipating retiring at the end of a semester or term.
Sample Letter #2
- Sample Letter #2 is for those members who wish to retire during a semester. They will have to apply for a leave of absence commencing at the beginning of the semester or term in which they will be retiring.
Active Retired Members
- In 1996, the OSSTF established a new type of membership specifically for Active Retired Members (ARM). ARM allows retired members to remain actively involved politically and socially with their colleagues. With the purchase of an ARM Benefit Plan you automatically become a member of the ARM organization. This comprehensive health plan is open to all teachers and education employees in Ontario, regardless of affiliate membership.
