CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Nominations for the position of District Chairperson open Wednesday, June 4, 2008 and close Wednesday, June 18, 2008.  Completed Nomination forms must be received at the District Office by Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. addressed to the attention of Fay Mombourquette, Nominations Chair.  Click here for a list of duties as outlined in the District Constitution and a  link to the Nomination Form.

Nominations for the positions of District President, District Vice-President, District Secretary and District Treasurer must be received at the District Office by 4:00 on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Click on the position title for a list of duties as outlined in the District Constitution and a link to the Nomination Form for that position. 

District Annual General Meeting

The District Annual General Meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday May 29, 2008 at Saunders Secondary School, 941 Viscount Road, London.

District Constitution Committee Report

TBU Branch Elections

Elections for Branch President, Secretary, Treasurer (or Secretary/Treasurer) and CBC Representative must be held in each branch annually.  The election should be held between June 2-6, 2008 with nominations open 14 days prior to the election date.  Click here for more information.

Bargaining Unit Annual General Meetings

     PSSP - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the District 11 Office.  Please contact your Job Class Representative or the District Office if you wish to attend.

     Occasional Teachers - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the District 11 Office.

     Continuing Education Instructors - 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008 in the Wheable Auditorium.

     Teacher Bargaining Unit -5:15 p.m.  Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Saunders Secondary School, 941 Viscount Road, London.

Provincial News and Events:

Workers Health & Safety Centre Scholarships

The Workers Health & Safety Centre is offering scholarships for students who reside in Ontario and who will be attending post secondary education in the upcoming academic year (Fall 2008).  The theme for this year's scholarship is "How can employers better ensure the safety of their young or new workforce?"  There are four $1000 scholarships available in the essay category and four $1000 scholarships in the poster category.  The deadline for entries in June 6th, 2008.  Click here for the criteria for the scholarship.  Click here for the application form.

Awards, Scholarships, Grants, Bursaries

OSSTF/FEESO offers awards, scholarships, grants and bursaries for a variety of purposes.

• OSSTF/FESSO Financial Assistance Awards for Further Education - These awards provide financial assistance to members who are pursuing further education.  In Addition, Bursaries are available for members with a child or ward who has applied to enter a publicly-funded post-secondary college, university or apprenticeship program.
• OSSTF/FESSO Awards of Recognition for Members - These awards recognize outstanding contributions by members to the OSSTF/FESSO.  Some are provincial awards, others are district awards.
• OSSTF/FESSO Grants in Support of Staff Development - These grants support projects intended to contribute to the staff development of OSSTF/FESSO members.
